Recovery failing WA12212920WWW / WA12212930WWW

Post by rafsub »

Hi,

I'm trying to unbrick ECUs with WA12212920WWW / WA12212930WWW processors with no success, it always fails after erase command.

VPP and MOD1 checked. Normal flashing works both on bench and in the car when the ECU is not bricked but once it's bricked i tried everything, can't communicate with it.

Working on AG100 / AF630 3 plug ecus. It seems either the ECU is not receiving the kernel either its no booting it after mod1 release.

I probed RRX on the board and it's moving when fast ECU is sending the kernel, then when it sends erase command but nothing after that and RTX stays silent... Any advice ?

Thx

Hi,

You used FastECU? What version?

And what adapter? If j2534, is it clone or genuine?

For bootmode kernel write, MCU uses non-standard baudrate (39063) that many adapters fails to set.

These MCUs are bit weird, as they don't respond anything until you have kernel running, so you can't send any request before it to see if it is running, like others usually requires. So you basicly send kernel and hope that it works.

What we have also noticed, that these MCUs are prone to go fully dead, so it is possible that if it wont respond after many attempts, it is bricked completely.

Can you add zipped syslogs of attempts as attachment?

What you just said about the baud rate is interesting.

Do you know of a cable that works at 39063 as genuine tactrix cant be bought for now ?

I ve been using mostly ftdi based k line and manually setting voltage. I have a tactrix clone but it doesnt set voltage so i don’t use it but it works fine if i set voltage manually.

I ve also tried to inject the kernel via arduino TTL 5v directly on rrx but that didnt work.

I ll see to send you logs these days but i need to do some cleaning on my build first, im runing a modified version that builds on macos arm.
